Hello my name is Mark and i have created this website as a project for one of my classes and I chose the Czech Republic because i am fascinated by the beautiful Country. Czech Republic is Located in Europe just under Poland and to the right of Germany. I hope that the information you find on this sight helps you in whatever way.

A very important tradition in Czech weddings is a wreath made by the Grandma or mother of the bride, to be worn during the wedding. This tradition has become so popular that at weddings most of the wemon will be seen wearing them.

Historical Customs:

Groom- The Father of the Bride would put an Axe with a pile of wood and a Bottle of wine in the front of the House his house. When the Groom would arrive he was to make a choice between the two items, if he was to choose the Bottle of Wine he would later become a drunk. If he was to choose the Axe that meant he would be a good worker and become very succesful.
Bride- When the Bride is coming over to the grooms house, the groom's father would put a broom in a room when she would see this broom she would sweep the whole room to prove that she would be a good housewive.
Friends- Friends of the Newlyweds will form an aisle so the new bride and grom can walk through it. It reprsents difficulties in marriage.
New House- When the couple get back to the new house the groom carries the bride thru the front door to outwit the Evil spirits, like the beginning of a new life.
Stealing the Bride- The friends of the bride will Kidnap the bride to show the beginning of a partnership without them, the Groom will look for her and if he does not find her he has to pay a Ransom. If your thinking about doing this make sure to return the bride soon because you don’t want to keep guests waiting.
Dresses- A very important tradition is that the brides maids dress up with the same dress as the Bride because long ago it was traditional so that evil spirits will enter the brides maids instead of the bride.
Attendants- Guests take part in many traditions like making the Aisle that the Bride and Groom Run through to symbolize a new Relationship, and participating in much of the dancing and drinking during the reception.

Czech Republic People Information:

Religion of the Czech Republic consists of Roman Catholic is the most popular religion. Although there is Lutheran, Orthodox, Calvanist, Hussite (Catholic Reformed), and Judaism. Currently 6 percent of the population is Atheist.

Dating in Czech republic is much like the United states. When a guy and a girl like eachother, one will ask out the other and they will date for an Average of 9 months before getting Married.

Wedding Ceremonies: Wedding Ceremonies depend on Religion/Tradition, since the majority of people are Roman Catholic most weddings are done in a Catholic church with a Priest and many, many guests. One Thing very interesting about the Customs of the wedding is little things the pick up from tradition such as it being traditional at all weddings for there to be a flower girl, the sybolism behind this is that the flowers will attract the goddess of Fertility. Another thing that guests do is when the bride and groom are going to there car they throw nuts and grain.

Honeymoon:

Since Prague is one of the most romantic Places in the world most couples go there for their honeymoon. There is no other place like prague with 5 star restaurants around every corner, and hotels fit for kings this place is anyones dream honeymoon headquarters.
